STEEL WILL BE SOLD AT THE PREMIER HORSE SALE IN BIG SKY,MT JULY 12th

Wow—what a standout individual. Since the very first time he stepped into our barn, Steel has been something special. He quickly became Henry’s go-to horse and has stayed that way ever since. There is just something about him—the way he carries himself, his sharp mind, and his kind, willing heart—that sets him apart. A 2019 model AQHA grullo gelding standing 15 hands tall, Steel has the kind of hard-to-find grullo color that turns heads, and when you add his striking three white socks and excellent conformation, you get a horse that gets attention everywhere he goes. Steel has been in the Buckeye program for a year and a half, and in that time, he exceeded our expectations at every turn. No matter what we have asked—trail riding, ranch work, new obstacles, or even competing in a ranch rodeo—he’s stepped up with confidence, try, and a “let’s do this” attitude. He has been hauled to different locations, exposed to new situations, and nothing has rattled him. Steel has been ridden on busy state roads and through creeks, used to check cows, and taken on large group trail rides. He is always the same, whether it is his first ride of the week or the first ride in a month. His gaits are buttery smooth and comfortable enough to ride all day. He flows effortlessly from an extended trot to a soft jog to an easy lope, and his lead changes are natural and balanced. He is light in the bridle, responsive to your leg, and a pleasure to ride whether you are in the arena or out in the open. But what truly sets Steel apart is his heart. He absolutely loves people and soaks up attention—especially if it comes with a good scratch behind the ear (his favorite spot). He will melt into your hand, close his eyes, and let out the kind of sigh that tells you just how content he is. In the barn, he is a total gentleman—quiet in his stall, respectful in the wash bay, and stands perfectly for the farrier. He is easy to trailer, good around other horses, and always eager to see you coming. There is no doubt about it—this one’s going to be hard to let go. Steel is not just a good horse; he is family. He has been such a steady, happy presence in our lives, and knowing the kind of joy and trust he brings to every ride makes it all the more emotional to see him move on. We know he will make someone incredibly happy—and we are proud to offer him as the kind of once-in-a-lifetime partner people dream of finding. Steel is up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and dental care. He wears shoes on all four feet because of the terrain where we ride, but he has strong, healthy hooves and could easily go barefoot in the right setting. Whether you want a horse to take to the show pen or one to ride quietly down the trail, Steel will be right there with you, ready to give you his whole heart.
